Personnal project - 2022
Hôtel Néo Péron is a reinterpretation of the famous Hôtel Péron, in Art-Deco style, on "La Corniche" in Marseille, created in 1925.
The concept of the illustration was to incorporate a mixture of Japanese aesthetic codes from different eras into the architecture of the building.
By first adding several elements of Japanese folklore, with an entrance decorated with a Fu Dog, gohei, shimenawa, lanterns, a bonsai and a cherry tree filled with sakura flowers.
And in a second, several neon lights in pink and cyan colors to place this illustration in a retrofuturistic atmosphere dear to pop culture, hence the fact that this illustration is a night scene.

The different characters, they walk around, on foot or motorized, like what many people do, especially on Sundays, on "La Corniche" in Marseille.
PROCESS

First step: architecture and decor
From several photos I took of the building, I selected a front view in order to have a basic structure and composition.
Second step: chara design
The chara design is directly inspired by photos, most of my entourage, which I chose according to outfits and poses.
Third step: assembly and atmosphere
Once the decor and the different characters were individually finalized, I proceeded to the assembly, the coloring, the shadows and the lights.
ANIMATION
I decided to animate the two characters riding a scooter in order to produce my first NFT. I simply created 3 images by modifying 3 elements in order to produce a speed effect. I was then able to loop them on the principle of traditional stop-motion animation.
To see it on loop it's here.
